Common questions

Where is my data stored?

On your device, and (if iCloud is enabled for Film Lab in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud) in your own private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit. The developer never sees your data — there is no Film Lab server.

I don't see my rolls / recipes / batches on my other device.

Three things to check:

If sync still isn't happening, force-quit the app on both devices and reopen.

The dev-stage alarm didn't ring while my phone was locked.

Film Lab schedules a local notification at the exact end of each timed stage, set to time-sensitive interruption level so it breaks through Focus modes. If you're not getting them, check Settings → Notifications → Film Lab — Time Sensitive Notifications must be allowed. If the mute switch is on and Do Not Disturb is on without an exception for Film Lab, the system will still silence the notification — Apple does not grant the Critical Alerts entitlement to indie utilities.

My chemistry batch shows the wrong remaining capacity.

Capacity is measured in rolls, summed across every non-planned dev run that referenced the batch. If a run was created with the wrong batch attached, open it and tap Delete (the confirmation dialog spells out what gets refunded). The batch's "5/5 rolls" will update once the deletion saves.

I opened a kit but nothing shows up for it when I try to mix.

The "Mix" sheet only shows kits that have at least one bottle of concentrate with remaining volume and that hasn't expired. If your kit's bottles were all drained or are past their expiry date, they won't be selectable. Tap into the kit on the Chemistry tab to inspect each bottle.

Push/pull stops changed my dev time. Was that right?

Recipe push/pull rescales the developer step. When a published chart for your film + developer combination is available, the times come from the chart. Otherwise an ×1.4-per-stop estimate is applied — the recipe shows an ESTIMATED badge so you know to verify against your own test rolls.

Can I export my data?

Sleeve labels and invoices export as PDFs from the roll detail and photographer detail screens. Full data export (JSON / CSV) is on the roadmap. Until then, your data is yours: it lives in your iCloud account and you can verify it via Apple's privacy data download (privacy.apple.com).

Will there be a Live Activity for the dev timer?

Yes — it's built and parked for a v1.1 release. The current version shows the active timer in the macOS menu bar; lock-screen / Dynamic Island support follows.
